Can I try a class before signing up?

Yes! You’re very welcome to join us for your first class free of charge. Simply contact us to find out when we have spaces available so we can accommodate you.

How much does classes cost?

Classes are R500 per month for one lesson per week. Your class will take place on the same day and at the same time each week.

What happens during holidays, and how do I pay fees?

Monthly invoices are issued regardless of holidays or if you are away. Your teacher will always ensure that any missed lessons are made up. To secure your place in the class, your monthly fee must be paid. We close for the December holidays over Christmas and New Year.

How do I make my monthly payments?

Electronic transfer is preferred, though cash payments are also accepted. Fees are payable one month in advance, by the 1st of each month. If payment has not been received before your first lesson of the month, you will not be able to attend. We also offer a debit order facility—let us know if you’d prefer this option and we’ll send you the relevant form.

Can I attend just one class?

Our programme is designed to build your skills step by step, so regular attendance is essential. Attending only the first class will not be beneficial.

How many people are in each class?

Classes can accommodate up to 12 students at various stages of the programme. There’s no need to worry if you’re a beginner—the teacher offers individual guidance to everyone according to their level.

I’m an experienced artist or painter. Can I skip the beginner lessons and start at a more advanced level?

No. Everyone follows the same structured programme, which teaches you how to paint using Creative Image techniques and materials on a variety of surfaces. Even experienced painters will discover new skills and enjoy the classes.

Do I need to bring paint and brushes?

All paint is provided during the lessons. However, after your first month, you’ll need to purchase a set of brushes from Creative Image Studio. This will be included on your invoice.

Can I use my own paint from home?

No. We use Creative Image Studio paints, which are specially formulated to work on the surfaces we paint. You’ll love working with them!

What surfaces do we paint on?

We begin by painting on fabric. As you progress, you’ll work on pillowcases, aprons, bags, key holders, ceramics, canvas, and wood. We keep the classes engaging by regularly changing the items you paint.

Can I paint on something I’ve bought from another craft shop?

No. Students must use materials purchased from our stock range, as part of our income is generated from these sales.

I don’t like the item or pattern we’re painting. Can I skip that class and do the next one?

Each class is designed to teach you a specific technique necessary for future projects, so unfortunately you can’t skip ahead. Remember, you can always give the finished piece as a gift.

Is the cost of the item I’m painting included in the monthly fee?

We provide all the paint during the lessons. If you’re practising on fabric, this is included. However, all other blank items must be purchased separately from the studio. You will receive the price of each item two weeks before starting a new project so you can plan ahead.

What should I bring to each class?

Please bring your paint brushes, masking tape, kitchen towel, a container for water, a notebook and pen, and a palette for mixing paint.

Do you provide refreshments?

Yes—tea, coffee and water are available during the class.
